    What is the point of PPPoE? What I mean is, why would a DSL provider use
    PPPoE instead of unaltered ethernet?

    I'm sure that Ameritech's PPPoE is the reason they advertise their service
    as Windows only (at least this was the way it was advertised when I was
    looking into DSL).
