Oh, sure. Telocity sent a warning to their DeadPoint-connected customers
back on Friday. Boiled down, it said YOUR DSL IS GONNA DIE. The exact
timing was uncertain then, and they (and every other ISP that was using
DeadPoint) will be scrambling to restore service using some other ILEC, but
given the speed of DSL line installs, most customers whose DSL was connected
by the ILEC formerly known as NorthPoint can anticipate a month or more of
no service.
You might want to drop in on chi.internet (if you can ignore the usual
assortment of braindamaged idiots and trolls - no, they're not quite the
same thing) where I'm sure the matter has been, and will continue to be,
discussed. For a wide range of values of "discussed".
