    Well, I wanted to do it so I could use the conventional encryption
    function of GPG via crypt++ in Emacs. Crypt++ expects to collect the
    passphrase itself and then pass it to the encryption program as a
    command-line option. PGP has a command-line option for passphrase,
    but GPG does not, quite deliberately.
