With enough dedication anything can be done. Ask yourself how important it
is and whether you have any old junk around to experiment with first.

I know that some people think this thread is way past old and annoying,
but I find it fascinating -- how about some tips on soldering ICs or
circuitboards? Do you guys know of any good sites or even invaluable
    personal tricks?

I have this pipe dream, you see -- I have an old model-m-style keyboard
(made by Chicony, I believe) that has the great klickety-klickety sound
that just warms your heart as you type. However, my wrists are so bad
that I can't much type on "straight" keyboards for more than a few
minutes before I can really feel the strain. So what I wanted to do was
to take a dremel and saw the keyboard in half, angle the slabs and
reaffix them to some kind of undergirder, and then resolder the
connections across the "gulf". I realize this is a really easy way to
ruin a perfectly good keyboard... but... CAN IT BE DONE?
