I'd go for a 25W Weller with maybe three different sized tips, don't know how much they go for.
At my last place of employ I had a Weller WC-100 and it was lovely, but I know it's way out of the
home league. The two Radio Shack beasts I have at home now are bloody awful, and I wouldn't
recommend them. Especially if your not to skilled in soldering a good iron makes all the
difference.
The MetCals are wierd they use some kind of RF rather than direct heat for melting the solder, and
when they break, they appear to be unfixable (how do you fix a soldering iron when your soldering
iron is broke :) ).
