Next message: Andrew Morrison: "Re: [LUNI] /tmp"
I've got a basic question on run levels. The customizable ones are
levels 2, 3, 4, and 5. (the Debian default is level 3). So this means
that the services that I'm most likely to use are going to be in run
level 3. If I want to have a setup that has different set of active
services, I can then create others in 2, 4, and 5 and switch to them on
the fly or have my system start up on a customized run level. Is this
correct?
The reason that I'm asking is that I was looking at my run levels in
/etc/rc.d, and run levels 2-5 are identical. Same services, same
ordering scheme, but I would think that there would just be one (3), and
the rest would be empty. Is there any particular reason for their to be
4 of the same one? Why the redundancy?
Thanks,
Steve
