I removed most of the gnome stuff once by using "apt-get remove gnome*".
Note the * at the end. This removes any package which contains the string
"gnome" anywhere within its name, such as, gnome-foo or foo-gnome. The
last time I checked, Xiamian (or whatever Helix became) did not provide ANY
means for removing GNOME from your system once they got their packages on
it. The command above was the best I could do.

and
deb ftp://non-us.debian.org/debian-non-US/ Debian2.2r2/non-US potato main
contrib
work for me. Please note the space between "...debian-non-US/" and
"Debian2.2r2/non-US"
