RedHat 7 - workstation. Default desktop GNOME although KDE is included.

SuSE 7.1 lots of applications. However, the installer needs some
refinement IMHO. I installed the personal version and chose the default
package. One would have hoped that SuSE would package the necessary
RPMs for the 'default' in the first CD! It installed all but 4-5
packages and prompts for CD2! No big deal BUT in my opinion the install
s/b AFAP w/o swapping of additional CDs. For sound, it installs the ALSA
drivers - it did not recognize my vanilla SB16 sound card; needs manual
configuration. Overall, I like this version.

Caldera eDesktop 2.4 - the first distro to come out with a GUI install.
Application selection not as extensive as SuSE/RedHat but sufficient to
meet the needs of a business desktop. New releases not as frequent as
RH/SuSE/Mandrake. RPM updates are related to resolution of security
    issue(s) mostly.
