    Thank you for the hints. It is quite apparent my searching
    techniques need refinement since i missed the rpms.

            I use SGML with the DocBook DTD on both RedHat and Debian systems.
    I installed my Jade/Tex tool-chain using RPMs on RedHat and DEBs on the
    Debian system. My understanding is that there is a maintainer (Camille
    something-or-other) who maintains similar RPMs for the Mandrake system.
    Perhaps they can save you some time and frustration.

            If you insist on doing everything by hand, you'll probably get
    better help for your questions on the docbook-apps mailing list. Check out
    http://www.docbook.org/mailinglist/ for more information.

            BTW: I've avoided using the XML tool-chain because the programs
    don't seem ready yet. Your mileage may vary.
