I don't know how sophisticated your brother is. Here is what I would
do, backup the installation in a set of tar files ( I presume he made
multiple partitions ). Then reinstall 98 ( I presume it came with 98
).
Plug and play should find the card and list it in the control
panel|system|network section.
Then restore linux from backup.
Or if he has a dual boot he can just boot into win 98.
He can also go to the HP web page and check out the kinds of cards
they use in that model, but it is not certain to be thesame card.
