    Thank you Simon et al. for suggesting Hylafax. I've heard great things
    about Hylafax I've also heard that it is difficult to install. AND I'M
    HERE TO TELL YA THE RUMORS ARE TRUE. I've wasted the entire day trying
    to install this thing I hav'nt gotten past ./configure.

    If any one will have mercy enough to try and help me through my pain I
    would be immensely greatfull. If anybody interested in trying this
    Hylafax why don't we go thought the painfull experience of installing it
    simultaneously. Such a shared experience will not only broden our
    knowlege it may bring us closer as a group.
    Here's a recap of my day so far:

    7:06am : downloaded hylafax-v.4.1beta2.tar.gz (I know newbies like me
    are supposed to stay away from beta but the site seem to indicate that
    this was the version to use.)

    7:19am : ran ./confifgure and got an error message saying that the
    .configure script could not find libbtiff.

    7:25 : edited configure to look in the right place :
    TIFFINC=/usr/include
    LIBTIFF=-L/usr/lib -ltiff

    7:28 : reran ./configure you guessed it same error message.

    7:35 - 10:20 am search the web for help. it seem libtiff 3.5 has a
    compatability problem/bug, however I was not sure how to proceed.

    11:00 kicked the wall a couple of time and had some lunch.

    12:00 downloaded libtiff 3.5-5 from source and installed it. It put the
    tiff files in /usr/local/include and /usr/local/lib

    12:20 edited configure to look for tiff in /usr/local/include and
    /usr/local/lib
            and reran script. result AAHHHH *!%*#! NO JOY!

    1:00 - 2:30 got back on the web searched for help. nada.

    Part of the trouble may be my newbieness. But if any one can help I
    sure would appreciate it.
