    Well what always reminds me that identd isn't running is trying to log onto an irc server. Fire up
    BitchX.

    BitchX -n mynick -c \#luni irc.debian.org

    once logged on simply:

    /wii mynick

    will tell you what is being reported to the IRC server at least.
